It is the end of the apple season here but there are still a few around at the roadside apple stalls and the weather is still cool enough to enjoy these buns. They’re on my list for today.
Looking forward to trying this and I'm SO happy to hear you say you don't search for the best baking apple! That has always been my approach, use what is fresh and in season. Thanks as always for your inspiration. And I'm sure your fledglings will thrive!
Martin, I made these the other day and they were excellent! We took half of them to a friend who had just got home from the hospital and he said “these were worth losing a minor organ (appendix) for” 😂. Made his day, and mine.
This looks really delicious and I want to make it. Fall is also my favorite season- love the comforts of it all. Your words are touching and I sympathize. I have four children who are not yet old enough to go on to college or move out, but I know the day will come and it pains me to think about. Even now, looking at decade old photos makes me feel sad. Happy, too... but also sad. I hope you continue to find comfort in delicious food and cooking.

I would think you could sub in other fruits, too! So glad to hear from you, Julia!
