How much vanilla is supposed to go in the pastry cream? I went with a vanilla bean in the milk but wanted to know for future reference. They turned out beautifully; thanks for this recipe!

These sound (& look) wonderful! My favorite part was adding rye flour to the streusel to echo those spicy rye whiskey notes. A stroke of genius!
